In a significant development aimed at enhancing infrastructure and improving the lives of citizens, the Federal Government of Nigeria, under the Ministry of Works, has officially handed over thousands of solar-powered street lights to Jigawa State. These street lights, part of a broader initiative encompassing both rural and urban areas, were constructed to illuminate and uplift communities within the state.
A delegation from the Federal Government, led by Engineer Samson Abindebi, Director of Electrical and Street Lights Services, visited the Government House for a courtesy call. The purpose of the visit was to formally hand over the street lights to the care of the Jigawa State Government, specifically under the Ministry of Works and Housing, ensuring proper maintenance and sustainability.
To solidify this collaboration, a Memorandum of Understanding has been drafted between the Federal Ministry of Works and the Jigawa State Ministry of Works and Ministry of Justice. This document outlines the responsibilities of each party and establishes a framework for cooperation in the upkeep of the infrastructure.
The delegation, accompanied by Jigawa State Commissioner of Works, Engineer Gambo, was warmly received at the Government House by His Excellency, Governor Mallam Umar A. Namadi FCA. The formal handover ceremony and the signing of documents took place in the spirit of partnership and mutual commitment to the well-being of the state's residents.
The event was attended by key dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, the Speaker of Jigawa State House of Assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, and officials from the Jigawa State Ministry of Works, among other esteemed council members.
This initiative reflects the Federal Government's dedication to fostering sustainable development and providing essential services to communities across the nation.
