In a surprise inspection, Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar A. Namadi, has strongly criticized contractors handling the Shuwarin–Wurma–Abaya–Chamo–Isari road project for what he described as “lackadaisical and unacceptable performance.”
The project, one of the 26 inherited from the previous administration, was supposed to have been completed long ago. Despite the government’s release of billions of naira in variations due to rising material costs, the road remains unfinished with visible defects and poorly managed culverts.
Governor Namadi expressed dismay that taxpayers’ money is being wasted on substandard work and warned that his administration will not tolerate negligence. He directed contractors to urgently rectify the damages or risk sanctions.
