Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Jigawa State Government has stepped onto the global stage as a high-powered delegation participates in the Malaysia International Halal Summit (MIHAS), seeking to attract investments and strengthen partnerships in the booming global Halal economy.
The delegation, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Livestock Development, Prof. Abdurrahman Salim Lawal, is presenting Jigawa as a prime destination for Halal investments in West Africa. Joining him are Dr. Saifullahi Umar, Director General of the Jigawa Agricultural Transformation Agency, and Hajia Aisha Sheik Mujaddadi, Director General of the Jigawa Investment Promotion Agency.
The team is attending high-level sessions including the Halal Certification Convention, the World Halal Business Conference, and MIHAS Power Talks on Halal Investments and Market Dynamics. These engagements are designed to deepen knowledge transfer, expand networks, and showcase Jigawa’s rich agricultural and livestock potential.
Speaking on the progress of the mission, Prof. Lawal described the visit as a “critical step” in Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s drive to diversify the state’s economy and create jobs.
> “Our participation in MIHAS is a strong demonstration of our administration’s commitment to building a robust Halal ecosystem in Jigawa State. We are confident that the connections and insights gained here will accelerate investments in livestock, modern meat processing, and Halal-certified farming, directly benefitting our farmers and local industries,” he said.
So far, the Jigawa delegation has held meetings with leading Malaysian firms, government agencies, and Halal industry leaders to discuss opportunities for collaboration, ranging from agro-processing to technical partnerships in Halal certification practices.
With its vast agricultural resources and growing livestock sector, Jigawa is positioning itself as a Halal hub for West Africa. The state government reaffirmed its commitment to leveraging international best practices to build a sustainable, competitive Halal industry that will unlock prosperity for its people.
