The Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC) will conduct local government chairmen and councillors elections on Saturday, October 5, 2024.
The chairman of the commission, Auwal Muhammad, announced this during a stakeholders meeting with political parties held today.
If you recall, earlier this week on July 24, 2024, the Jigawa State Executive Council, chaired by His Excellency Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA, approved JISIEC's request to conduct the local government elections. This resolution, made on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, aligns with Section 197(I) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission Law No. 3 of 2012 (as amended).
