RESOLUTION OF THE JIGAWA STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL HELD ON WEDNESDAY 24TH JULY, 2024

Highlights of the major decisions taken at the State Executive Council meeting held today Monday 29th July, 2024 as chaired by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Jigawa State Malam Umar A. Namadi FCA.  
 
The Council has approved:  
 
1. The Jigawa State Government position on the planned nationwide protest and resolved that there is no need for the protest considering the measures Federal and States Governments are taken to reduce the negative impact of some government policies on Nigerians. These measures include food distribution, implementation of student loans, and sale of food at subsidized prices. Similarly, the Council appreciated the various stakeholders in Jigawa State such Council of Ulama, traditional leaders, Students Union and Association, Trade Unions and Civil Society Organizations that are supporting government efforts to create awareness and the need to maintained peace across the State.  
 
2. The upward review of Bursary Allowance in respect of 5,751no. of newly interviewed and returning students at Federal University Dutse (FUD) and Bayero University, Kano (BUK). Similarly, the sum of Five Hundred and Seventy-Three Million Five Hundred and Sixty-Six Thousand Five Hundred 
(N573,566,500.00) only to cover the student’s maintenance allowance, Tuition Fee and refund of registration fees to Female students and people with disability Free- Girls Education 
 Policy .

3. The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Programme 2024 Work Plan for the implementation of the project in Jigawa State as cleared by the World Bank. The AGILE programme is dedicated to enhancing the accessibility of secondary education for adolescent girls funded by World Bank.  

4. The immediate procurement of relief materials by State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to the tune of Two Hundred and Thirteen Million, Two Hundred and Eleven Thousand, Seven Hundred and Thirty-Seven (N213,211,737) only. The approval is for the procurement of building materials, clothing and emergency food items to ensure effective and efficient preparedness for rapid response to any emergency in the State as presented by Honorable Commissioner of Special Duties, Auwal D.  Sankara.  
 
5. The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social 
Development for the Implementation of JCARES Programme from 10,000 to 12,000 Women beneficiaries across the 27 LGAs. Similarly, the sum of Six Hundred Million (N600,000.00) only for the 12,000 women as grants for entrepreneurial ventures.
