TASKFORCE COMMITTEE FOR RETRIEVAL OF GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL NUMBER PLATES CONSULTS WITH LG CHAIRMEN, NURTW, OTHER STAKEHOLDERS

In continuation of its consultation with various stakeholders across the State, the Taskforce Committee for the retrieval of Government official number plates today today held a meeting with acting Chairmen of Dutse, Buji, Gwaram, Birnin Kudu, Kiyawa, Miga and Jahun Local Government Council as well as the Leadership of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW.  

The Chairman of the Committee, DC Tijjani Murtala told the acting Chairmen and other stakeholders that, the Committee was set up by Governor Malam Umar A Namadi to identify unauthorized official number plates used by Civil and Public officers within and outside the State and to confiscate such plates found on private vehicles.

Represented by the Co- Chairman of the Committee, DCC Aminu Abba of the Federal Road Safety Corps solicited the support and cooperation of the Local Government Councils and other Stakeholders to ensure full enforcement of the retrieval of the unauthorized official number plates used by unauthorized Persons within and outside the State.

The Chairman of the Committee said his committee is ready to receive meaningful advice from individuals and organizations to achieve the desired objectives.

He assured the acting Local Government Councils Chairmen and other stakeholders that, the Committee will  discharge its assigned responsibilities with honesty and fairness.

In their separate remarks at the session, the acting Chairmen of Dutse, Birnin Kudu, Kiyawa, Gwaram an Jahun Local Government Councils commended Governor Malam Umar Namadi for his foresight to set up the Committee .

The Council Chairmen also commended the Governor for his foresight and commitment in ensuring the security of lives and property of the people Jigawa State.

They promised to give all the necessary support and cooperation to achieve the desired objectives.

On his part, the representative of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Ibrahim Ahmed Kwaimawa assured the Committee of the backing of the Union.
 
Comrade Kwaimawa explained that they will do everything possible to ensure full enforcement of the retrieval of the unauthorized official number plates used by unauthorized Persons within and outside the State.
