The Coalition of APC Support Groups in Jigawa State has welcomed the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recognition of the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the move as a major boost to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Comrade Muhammad Babangida Muhammad, the coalition said the decision has effectively fragmented the opposition into “three weak and disconnected fronts”—the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party, and now, the revived ADC under David Mark.
According to the coalition, this political realignment will make it easier for the APC to secure a decisive first-round victory in 2027.
“With this development, the opposition vote has now been graciously divided into three weak and disconnected fragments. This is not just a realignment but a reduction of relevance across the opposition spectrum, clearing the path for a comfortable first-round victory for the APC come the next general elections,” the statement read.
The group noted that rather than posing a threat, the emergence of the ADC under David Mark would “serve as an unexpected assistance to the APC,” further weakening the already fragile opposition base.
“We sarcastically appreciate the new ADC leadership and warmly welcome them into the fray—not as threats, but as assistants in disguise,” the statement added.
Commending INEC for “upholding democratic processes,” the coalition expressed confidence that the APC’s record of governance under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda will ensure Nigerians reaffirm their trust in the ruling party in 2027.
“The APC remains the party of progress, stability, and national cohesion. No amount of tactical opposition multiplication will stop the collective will of Nigerians from standing with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC,” it concluded.
